CONFERENCE AGENDA
Self-enhancement in psychology
Self-enhancement is a very important topic in different fields of psychology, including (but not limited to) social psychology and personality psychology. It can be seen as universal human characteristic, which nonetheless shows interesting cross-cultural differences. Self-enhancement can be seen as an 'umbrella' term, related, among others, to such phenomena as self-esteem, narcissism, self-serving attribution bias, entitlement and so on. There are interesting differences between cultures in understanding and evaluating self-enhancement, which make this topic especially valid for cross-cultural research.
Main goal of the conference is to facilitate discussion on studying self-enhancement from cross-cultural perspective. We aim to integrate researchers originating from different fields of psychology (e.g. social, personality, developmental, cognitive) and from different cultural background.
We hope that one of the results of the conference will be widespread research on self-enhancement conducted in cross-cultural context. To this end, we propose also pre-conference workshops on methodological and statistical issues related to cross-cultural research.
